Journey To D.C

June 16th, 2009 by chrispmbrtn

I recently visited Washington D.C. What a cool place!! All the history was neat to see. I remember reading and studying about all the history of America back in High School and then actually getting to see it up close was really cool.

One of the coolest memorials, I think, is the Iwo Jima Memorial. If you don’t know the history of the memorial, it’s really cool to read. There was a veteran there who saw the flag being raised. The famous picture of the flag raise is actually the second picture the photographer took. He said that when he saw the flag, he started crying. It was a glorious moment he said. He remember seeing some of his buddies killed and seeing the flag raise he was just mournful for his friends. He was a sergeant. He said he should of been higher in the ranks, but he punched an officer in the nose!!! He probably deserved it!! Awesome guy to talk to!

I will blog more about D.C later!!!
