Thank You Military

Have you ever wondered what would happen if America did not have military service or that America decided that we don’t need the military anymore? I’ve thought about that and what a nightmare that would be! You hear a lot about protests against the military and the war in Iraq and I wonder – “why protest against the military?” The military gives you the right and the privilege to protest and gives you the right to speak your mind and not get into trouble. There are many countries in the world that you would get into trouble or even put to death if you even think about doing that. I think it would be a huge eye-opener and a different experience for many if  those kinds of policies happened here in America. We don’t even think about the restriction of freedoms nor don’t worry they’ll be taken away. Other people in different countries do not have the freedoms and the dreams that we have in America. We all should be thankful for the rights that we have that are being protected by our Armed Forces. We should not protest the military at all. If you do not agree with the war, then protest the government, NOT THE SOLDIERS IN HARMS WAY AND THEIR FAMILIES BACK HOME! And let’s not forget the ones that are not in harms way as well. If you don’t support the war, at least support the military and show your respect to them. They are fighting for your’s and everyone’s freedom.

The military will always have a special place in my heart. My father (who has been a Marine for over 25 years) is currently serving in Iraq. I have grown up in a Marine Corps family and have cherished it every moment. Being in a military family can be hard and tough at some points in someone’s life. When your loved one is deployed for 6 months to a year it’s hard to make ends meat and keep going when the one that deals with all of the hard things in life is gone. I remember my mother saying that “In the beginning of our I marriage, I had to learn that in his heart, I am number one on his list and mind. But in his job and career, the military is number one”. It’s a hard thing to realize and understand, but with God’s help and guidance their marriage has blossomed and has grown into a marriage that can not be broken. Yes, being in the military is hard and tough, but there’s a huge honor that comes with it. Moving away from friends and family was really tough for me. However, when I look back I see and understand why we had to move. What an awesome experience my family had. We’ve lived and traveled over half of the United States – many families can’t say that. Being in a military family is a totally different world from ordinary families.

For all the men and women that are currently serving in our Armed Forces, I want to give my support and say “Thank You” for fighting for my freedom and giving the rights that many around the world don’t have. America would not be safe without you and your families being there whenever you are called to the frontlines. I pray that all of you get home safely and that being in the military helps you become a better person. Don’t think that you do not deserve honor or you don’t deserve respect. I believe you do and you should be given the honor and respect of every American. You give me and America hope for our future and our security.  OORAH and Semper Fi!
